free software

My husband stays on the web. He shops, visits forums and does lots of research. He does not download anything, but his computer is running very slow. What software do we need to use to "clean it out" so to speak?

Cleaning up your computer
by: Jennifer

I hope you have an anti virus software already installed on your computer. If not AVG is a free one that works well.
To clean your computer out I would start by right clicking on your C drive and selecting properties. In the General tab click on the Disk cleanup button this will bring up the disk cleanup window. Check the boxes for temporary internet and temporary files. A lot of times when browsing the web and downloading things these files get rather large. Then click on Clean up files. This make take several minutes depending on how much information is there. Then I would select the tool option from the C drive properties window and defragment the computer. When the defragment is finished I would run the Error checking utility in the tools tab.
If this doesn't help I would try an adware removal tool. I would recommend AdAware. http://www.lavasoft.com/
I hope this helps
