Maintenance Lead

I am attempting to get an average from a range of cells. My problem is I want just an average of outlined cells within the total range. For example, my range is C7:AG30, within that range I have red outlined cells based on other criteria and I want the average of just the red outlined cells within the total range C7:AG30. I am not sure if this is possible, I have tried everything I can think of.

Visual basic and Excel

If the data is coming from VB it might be possible for the VB programming to be changed and have it export the average cell as well. It has been years since I have done anything in VB but I might be able to help with the code if you need it.

Average in excel
by: Anonymous

I could do it that way. This is an automated report with data being brought into it from visual basic. What I was hoping for, once all of the cells are filled in to excel from VB that That the last thing on the spreadsheet would be a cell for the average of the outlined cells, this all being done automatically. It is allot too ask for, might be overreaching on this one. Thanks for the input.

Finding an Average in Excel
by: Jennifer

To get an average in a block of cells click on the cell that you want the formula to show up in. Click on the fx button next to the formula bar. From the menu select average. When the average box comes up click and drag the cells you want the formula to calculate the average. Press enter.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if it works out.
