To create a check register in excel create your opening balance cell, debit cell, and deposit cell.
Type =( )
Between the parenthesis click on the cell with your opening balance type + click on the cell with the deposits then type - click on the cell with your debits. Press enter. This will give you the total for that row of cells with the money going in and out. click on the cell with the formula and in the lower right corner click and hold the small black box and drag down to copy the formula and make changes to the cell numbers. in the balance column type = click on the cell with the formula you just entered. This will take the total from that cell and place it in the balance you are starting with.
