Publisher 2010 Home Font Ribbon

The Publisher 2010 Font section in the Home tab gives you features to change the font face, size, color and style.

Publisher 2010 Home Font Group

We are going to open the Publisher document we started in the previous tutorial to demonstrate the functions in the Font section.

Publisher 2010 Home Font Underline

You can see that our text is Italicized and Underlined because the buttons in the Font section are highlighted. To remove these functions, highlight your text and click on the Italicize and Underline functions. The buttons will no longer be highlighted in the Font section.

Publisher 2010 Home Font All Fonts





To change your font, highlight the text and select the font drop down box.

The Recently Used Fonts will be listed first, and following will be All Fonts listed in alphabetical order.

Select your desired font and your text will be updated. We are going to select Arial.

Publisher 2010 Home Font Text Size




Let’s highlight our text again to change the size of our text. Click on the drop down menu for the text size which is currently showing 16. We are going to select 20 and our text will now be updated with the new size.

 

Publisher 2010 Home Font Grow Shrink




If you would like to quickly make your text a little smaller or a little bigger, you could utilize the Grow Font and Shrink Font functions. To do this, highlight the text you would like to change and select one of these functions shown in the image to the left.

 

Publisher 2010 Home Font Subscript


You will find the Subscript (creates small letters below the text baseline) and Superscript functions (creates small letters above the line of text) in the Font section. Review the image to the right to see how the text is affected.

Simply select the Subscript or Superscript button and start typing. Select it again to turn it off.

Publisher 2010 Home Font Small Caps



You have the ability to change the case of your text to Normal, Small Caps or All Caps. In our example to the left, we highlighted Publisher 2010 and selected the Change Case button. In the drop down menu, we chose Small Caps. Try out the different options to see how it makes your text appear.

Publisher 2010 Home Font Character Spacing



The Font section will also allow you to change your character spacing. In the drop down menu, you will find five different options for spacing or customize your spacing by selecting More Spacing. In our example to the right, we selected Very Tight.

 

Publisher 2010 Home Font Color



To change the color of your text, highlight your text and the Font Color button. In the drop down menu, you will have a variety of colors to choose from. Select More Colors to get a more customized option.

Publisher 2010 Home Font Fill Effects





To change the color of your text, highlight your text and the Font Color button. In the drop down menu, you will have a variety of colors to choose from. Select More Colors to get a more customized option.

Publisher 2010 Home Font Clear Formatting




Finally, you can select the Clear Formatting button to clear all of the formatting from your selection, leaving only the plain text. You can see in our example to the left that our text is back to plain.
